Sittin' near the dock of a bay

I had fun with this little painting. I originally painted a tree coming in from the right.  The branches stretched all the way to the top. I used a palette knife to add leaves to the tree.

The tree looked great but it took away from the main subject of the painting, so I took that same palette knife and scraped that tree off of there.

It was a jumble of colors there for a while but I just painted over it and it turned out fine.

For the clouds, I searched the internet for a photograph of clouds that I liked. I thought these clouds looked especially great. I like how they brighten up the sky.
