Cape May, New Jersey

Today's painting is from Cape May, N.J., near East Point Light House. It's such a beautiful area with plenty of great places to set up your canvas or do what I did, take lots of photos to work from.

I was attracted at first by the sky. It was really quite lovely.  And with the grass and light and shadows on the sand with just a hint of sea showing, to me was simply perfect!

Stop trying to be less of who you really are. Let this time in your life cut you open and drain of all the things that are holding you back.

Two painting challenge paintings

We have two paintings ready to post for our second painting challenge!

My sister Betty Ann's painting has the sky of Sarasota, Florida from the challenge and the foreground from Selby Bontaincal Gardens, also in Sarasota.

My sister painted with oils and a palette knife on a 9 x 12 canvas. It's so beautiful and moving. I love this painting!

My painting is the Sarasota sky, of course, from our challenge and the foreground is from  the land surrounding the East Point Lighthouse in New Jersey.

My painting is 8 x 10 oil on gessobord.

Some East Point fun facts:

The East Point Light, known as the Maurice River Light before 1913, is a lighthouse located in Heislerville, New Jersey on Delaware Bay at the mouth of the Maurice River in Maurice River Township, Cumberland County, New Jersey.

If anyone else is joining in the challenge I look forward to any and all submissions!

New Painting Challenge

Here is a new painting challenge for anyone who is interested in joining with us in this new adventure.

Paint the cloud below using any background or foreground if you will, that you wish to use.
You could use it at the beach, mountains, an open field, farm, houses, any way you wish to paint it, just paint it! :D Use your imagination to come up with your own way of expressing this cloud for the world to see.

This is my own personal photo that I took on a recent trip to Sarasota, Florida. You may use the photo in any way you choose. It's free for all.

I just LOVE this cloud and I'm looking forward to all of the submissions.

Most of all, have fun creating your masterpiece!!
