Storm Approaching

We've seen a lot of these approaching storms lately here in New Jersey. Yikes. It's always a time to brace yourself. In my neck of the woods we've had quite a few tornado warnings and more than a few tornadoes. And yet the sky is so beautiful when it's stormy.

Orange goodness

I love a good sweet orange. It's better than any candy you could eat. Mother Nature sure knows what she's doing.

I painted these oranges one afternoon recently. The sun came in my window where I have my easel at just the perfect point where I painted the entire painting in sunlight.

Let your dominant intent be to feel good which means, be playful, have fun, laugh often, look for reasons to appreciate and practice the art of appreciation.

Radish bunch

I don't eat them, I just paint them.

Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regret, for I am far surer of what is kind than I am of what is true.

Fall Harvest

Yes, I know it's summertime, yes, it's only July, but I love this photo and couldn't wait to paint it.

5x7 gessobord  $30.00  + shipping

I'm going to be happy.  I'm going to skip.  I'm going to be glad.  I'm going to smile a lot.  I'm going to be easy.  I'm going to count my blessings.  I'm going to look for reasons to feel good.  I'm going to dig up positive things from the past.  I'm going to look for positive things where I stand.  I'm going to look for positive things in the future.  It's my natural state to be a happy person.  It's natural for me to love and to laugh.  This is what is most natural for me.  I am a happy person.

In the summertime when the weather is hot

I had to reach back into the wayback machine for this one. I've been very busy these last few days, busy and tired. Life is like that sometimes but it's all good, good people!

6x8 gessobord

Being happy is the cornerstone of all that you are. Nothing is more important than that you feel good. And you have absolute and utter control about that because you can choose the thought that makes you worry or the thought that makes you happy; the things that thrill you, or the things that worry you.  You have the choice in every moment.

Cave of Wonders

Another in the series of ocean paintings.

8x10 gessorbord  $40.00

If all you did was just look for things to appreciate you would live a joyous, spectacular life.  If there is nothing else that you ever came to understand other than just look for things to appreciate, it's the only tool you would ever need to predominantly hook you up with who you really are.  That's all you'd need.

Splish Splash

Another wild rocky beach............

9x12 gessobord $40.00 + shipping

I have these in reverse order of how I painted this painting. I generally sketch it out first with a paint brush. Sometimes I'll draw with a pencil, but usually I use paint. It's much more comfortable for me that way.

I then painted some of the background and then the rocks. All it needed was an ocean, and so it goes.

Life's a Beach

This is definitely somewhere I'd like to be right now. Give me a good book and a beach chair and an umbrella, and I'll be all set.

5x7 gessorbord $30.00 + shipping

And watch the sun go down, and hear the sea roll in, and I'll be thinking of you, and how it might have been.....

Rocky Shore

Today's painting is a sea that's only wild because of the rocks. I love the sea!  It's so beautiful and ever-changing and always a challenge to paint.

11x14 ampersand gessobord $50.00 + shipping

Thank you for stopping by, good people.  And remember, be kind to others. Peace and love!

Many animals and plants live on rocky shores in the area between high and low tide called the intertidal zone. These organisms must be able to cope with problems of not one environment, but two. They are pounded by waves, exposed to extremes of temperature and salinity, and flooded by sea water and exposed to drying air twice every 24 hours. They also have to avoid being eaten by birds, molluscs and crabs at low tide, and by fish and other marine life at high tide.

Everything's coming up yellow

The orange/yellow of the sky sets everything on fire. The colors of the water are the colors of the sky and so it is with this newest painting.  No matter what I paint I keep coming back to the rolling waves. Aba, it might be time for a plein air road trip!

No longer available

I must go down to the sea again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

Colored Bottles

These bottles I painted are from a Helen Van Wyk study. I don't agree with everything she says but that's true of all artists that you study. You take a little from this one and a little from that one.

5x7 ampersand gessobord $25.00 + shipping

The only exception I've found so far is Carol Marine. She is
spot-on with everything she says and is truly not only the master
of her craft but is very generous with sharing her knowledge.

Glass fun facts:

Before man figured out how to craft glass, nature was already making it. When lightning strikes sand, the heat sometimes fuses the sand into long, slender glass tubes called fulgurites. The intense heat of a volcanic eruption sometimes fuses rocks and sand into a glass called obsidian. In early times, people shaped obsidian into knives, arrowheads, jewelry, and money.

Fruit or Vegetable?

This tomato painting is from the way-back machine due in part to the 4th of July festivities and having little time to paint. I have a lot of older paintings I will be posting from time to time and it will probably take a long time before I post them all.

6x8 canvas board $20.00 + shipping

But fear not, my brush in on fire today and I've already (nearly) knocked out the next painting.  It just needs a few finishing touches.

Go forth and be blessed, good people!  Peace and love.

Waves on the rocks

Magic casements opening on the foam, of perilous seas, in faery lands forlorn.

Inner Harbor

I love painting reflections and thus the following:

5x7 ampersand gessobord $25.00 + shipping

I think I'm back in the ocean/water mode of oil painting. I just love painting water, and oceans, and beach scenes. I'm sure I'll be interspersing these types of paintings with my other paintings. It's just the way it is.

Thanks for stopping by.  Peace and love to you all.
