Three's a crowd

Although spring is my favorite time of the year, you just can't beat a good fall pumpkin. The memories flow: carving, (smashing), Halloween, Thanksgiving, pumpkin pie!!  For today I just settled for a nice still life because I loved that vine so much. :D

My Eyes Adored You

This is my best friend's dog. I see her a lot. She adores her owner as you can see in her eyes. She's a beautiful dog, friendly, and very sweet.

Free Spirit

This is a dog I've spent a lot of time being around. He's one of three dogs that live together and he's the alpha male. He's always so glad to see you and as soon as he sees me he's right on my lap for the entire visit. I love this little guy!

Stand By Me

Another adventure into the world of painting animals.  I love this cow's eyes. They say a lot to me because they look like my Robin's eyes (my beautiful golden retriever); soulful, compassionate, trusting, gentle and kind.

Cows are amongst the most gentle of breathing creatures; none show more passionate tenderness to their young when deprived of them.  And in short, I am not ashamed to profess a deep love for these quiet creatures.

World In Motion

I painted this same scene a few years ago and this is a remake of it. It was fun to paint both times.

An intelligence knowing all the forces acting in nature at a given instant, as well as the momentary positions of all things in the universe, would be able to comprehend in one single formula the motions of the largest bodies as well as the lightest atoms in the world, provided that its intellect were sufficiently powerful to subject all data to analysis; to it nothing would be uncertain, the future as well as the past would be present to its eyes.

Facing West

This is the sunset set at Laurel Lake in Millville, N.J.  There are special places where the sunsets are the most lovely, and Laurel Lake is one of them.

Killahoey Beach

This is a painting of Killahoey Beach in Ireland, a most scenic and beautiful place. I've only seen it in photos but I think I need to add this place to my bucket list.

Before the Deluge

This is a painting I did a few years ago and decided to try it again to see if I can make it better. Several years of renewed study and many, many paintings later, well, you be the judge.

Sunset Beach

This is a painting I finished about 4 months ago of Sunset Beach in Cape May Point, N.J.
Life gets busy sometimes and I've just recently pulled out some finished paintings to do a final glazing on them and this is one of them.

This Little Piggy

This is my first animal painting. I'm trying to stretch my boundaries to hopefully become a better artist.  An artist I follow, Jose Trujillo, says that you have to paint what you are uncomfortable painting to stretch and grow.

This is some of the best advice I've heard and I believe him because I've grown as an artist by taking his advice.
This is the very first animal I've ever painted and I'm so glad that I gave it a try.

My daily apple

My daily apple for today.  I'll be posting these often so be sure to stop by for a visit to see what I've been up to.  There are many more apples to come!

Please join me in painting a "daily apple".  Peace and love and joy to all.

Thursday, March 9, 2017

I started painting a "daily apple" about a week ago.  I've faithfully painted them everyday so far. I'll try to post my daily apple here when I get a chance. Here is my apple from yesterday:

So far the benefits have been:

1.  I paint every day.  Even though some days I don't have the time to paint, I certainly can fit in a brief period of time to paint an apple.

2. I've found that I paint more loosely which is a goal of mine.

3. I progressively see improvement.

4. It warms me up for my regular painting day.

5. It makes me feel good and gives me confidence and makes me exited to paint, paint, paint!

Give it a try if it suits you. It doesn't have to be an apple but make it something small so that it doesn't feel burdensome. It should always be fun!

This one step, choosing a goal and sticking to it, changes everything.  ~ Scott Reed

Reflections In Ocean View

This work was done from a photograph taken by my very talented niece, Roxanne. She generously allows me to use her photos for my paintings. Thanks, Rox!

Nature's Majesty

I didn't have to try to make this painting bright and flashy, it did it itself. Such beauty and majesty as I see in all sunsets. You can watch this show twice a day in the sunrise and sunsets.  It's a spectacular show and it won't cost you a dime!

Rocky Road To The Shore

One of my favorite lines, well, a line that I find really funny in the movie/book "Jane Eyre", is the line, "There's an impediment!" This just cracks me up because there was an outrageous situation and it was called an impediment.

I titled this painting "Rocky Road To The Shore" thinking of that very line. It's hard to say there's a rocky road to the shore, (or an impediment) when it's clearly impossible to get there in this situation. It gave me a giggle and I went with this title.

It's not always easy to name a painting so I just went with this and made it fun. Hope you like it.

Be blessed.

Snoopy 'n Woodstock

This is a painting I made for my best friend for Christmas. It's not an original as I saw this on the internet. I changed it very slightly to suit my vision if you know what I mean. If you're an artist then you know what I mean!

It was fun to paint and is my third Van Gogh-esk-type painting. I LOVE Van Gogh. Can you tell? :D

Correction: It was just pointed out to me that this is my fourth Van Gogh-type painting!!
