Surf's Up

This painting is one from sister's day, a day when my sister and I create, create, and then create some more! At this particular session I started this painting that I call Surf's Up.

It's not the size canvas I usually work with as it's not conducive to a painting a day, measuring 16" x 20". I have five more canvases of this size for when the mood strikes me to paint larger, but for the most part I like to paint smaller paintings.

16 x 20 ~ $100.00 plus shipping

If any of my painting pals are interested in painting with me or are in a painting slump, I thought it might be fun if I post a photograph that I have permission to paint and we could all post our own version of it, be it in oils, acrylics, pen, pencil, whatever!

If you're interested let me know in the comments below. I have just the photo in mind for us to use for this project. Invite your friends. All are welcome!

The Woods

I painted this about a week ago except for a few finishing touches that I put on the other day. I like to wait a few days before I post a painting. It gives me time to mull it over and think about what changes I want/need to make.

Starry Night

I've always wanted to paint Starry Night with the idea of getting into the head of the artist a little more. Turns out he was a beautiful man inside and out.

I had fun painting this and consider it to be an exercise in loosening up and becoming more painterly. I've been in a painting slump and I believe this may be my turning point.

What have you done to get out of your painting slump?
