View From Oyster Creek Inn

On this day last fall I traveled with a friend to Oyster Creek Inn in Leedspoint, NJ.  I snapped a picture whilst walking up the wood planked entrance-way (sort of like a board walk), and used that photo for this painting.

The Oyster Creek Inn is located in what is now the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge.  Why would they let a restaurant be built in a wildlife refuge? Because Oyster Creek Inn was there first! It was established in 1938 and the refuge was established in 1984.

There's a lot of interesting history in this area. You should check it out for yourself if you get the chance.

Seagull pit stop

This is a painting I finished a while ago. I wasn't really crazy about it but it sold in an auction and the money went to a very good cause, and that's all right with me!

Tropical Isle

Another day, another study. I started painting palm trees almost a year ago but this one, I think, is the one I like the best. Nice and loose as a goose.

Key West Sunset

This painting was a delight to make. So many beautiful colors! I love Key West!

Special thanks to Key West Sunsets and Sunrises for permission to use their photo for my painting.

Boat on the water, Fire in the sky

It's a good day to paint. Blizzard conditions outside, everyone is home safe and sound, cup of hot coffee and a slab of hummingbird cake. Life is sweet.

I love this new technique I learned recently. I'm going to use this technique on more paintings.

Sunsets rock; they make painting even more fun than they already are.

Reflections

This is another one of my favorite outdoor scenes; the ocean. I love capturing the beauty of the light dancing on the water. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Watch the sun go down and the sea roll in

This tropical setting is from a photo courtesy of Key West Sunsets and Sunrises on FaceBook. Loving the tropical setting and wishing I was there with Aba plein air painting this very minute.
